Three years ago, I photographed Kim & Fred’s wedding. Label Mariage was the perfect occasion to reconnect, and I had a little surprise for her.

I had designed a custom album with her favourite images, chosen the cover myself based on what I knew of their taste, and had it crafted by Album Dekora, a Canadian maker I love and trust.

Seeing her hold it for the first time? That’s the whole point.

Three years ago, I photographed Kim & Fred’s wedding. Label Mariage was the perfect occasion to reconnect, and I had a little surprise for her.

Est-ce que je suis à la bonne place?

Une question qui m’habite depuis un bon moment.
Et cette année quelque chose a changé.
Je ne sais pas comment l’expliquer.
J’ai repris mon rôle de photographe avec une assurance, je me sens ancrée et je retombe en amour avec mon métier.
J’ai longtemps voulu être reconnue. Être la meilleure. Et ça m’a fait craquer sous la pression.
Alors que j’ai simplement à être moi.
C’est ce que j’ai d’unique à t’offrir.

Pour offrir une expérience chaleureuse, rassurante et tout en offrant des images qui reflètent la beauté , l’élégance brute de la journée de mariage. Une beauté parfois posée, parfois candide. Ne rien forcer. Simplement célébrer l’amour de deux personnes .
Ça mérite d’être raconté.

J’aime particulièrement le lien que je crée avec les gens que je croise. Pour qu’ils soient à l’aise d’être eux-même. J’aime quitter un mariage avec un gros câlin de mes mariés.
Je me sens choyé de recevoir un mot de leur part le lundi pour le remercier.
Les mots; c’est clairement mon « love language ».
C’est la deuxième moitié de la haute saison qui débute. Mais pour moi c’est le début de ma très haute saison; après un été à « relaxer » avec ma fille, je plonge dans la retouche, les projets de formation et d’autres beaux mariages.
Je suis tellement reconnaissante.

It’s about being present at the precise moment - watching closely to immortalize that fleeting, tender instant. J’ai toujours été et confiante en notre avenir en tant que femme.
Peut-être un peu trop naïve.
Je me suis souvent apaisée en pensant être en sécurité au Canada.
Que nos droits et libertés en tant que femme sont protégées par les lois et les institutions.
En commençant ces quelques lignes, j’avais l’intention de te parler des différences hommes/femme en entrepreneuriat et dans notre rôle de mère vs les pères.
Et j’ai rapidement trouvé ça dérisoire.

Je lis l’actualité à chaque jour avec une boule au ventre.
Une profonde inquiétude pour l’avenir de ma fille.
Pour notre avenir de femme.
Le recul de la condition de la femme dans le monde et toutes les violences faites aux femmes prouve plus que jamais que RIEN n’est acquis.
Plus que jamais un doute profond m’habite; est-ce qu’on va un jour atteindre l’équité femme/homme!?

De voir tant de filles ne pas voir accès à la scolarisation dans le monde.
De savoir que des mineurs sont encore obligées de se marier, de subir une mutilation des organes féminins.
D’entendre ce discours masculiniste religieux reprendre de la place dans l’espace publique.
De voir le retrait de l’interruption volontaire de la grossesse dans un pays civilisé comme les États-Unis.
De constater la hausse des féminicides et des violences faites aux femmes année après année.
Tout ça par des hommes qui s’approprient la vie et le corps des femmes gratuitement.

Ce qui me donne espoir;
Voir des femmes comme Gisèle Pelicot dénoncer ses agresseurs.
Voir des femmes manifester pour avoir le contrôle sur leur corps.
Voir des hommes comprendre que le féminisme est aussi positif pour eux que pour nous.
Voir des entrepreneures foncer et construire la business de leur rêve.

Restons solidaires.
Restons informées.
Restons alertes.
Et surtout; ne nous taisons jamais.

Le combat est loin d’être terminé. Nos droits ne sont pas acquis.

Tu portes ton chapeau de femme, de mère , d’entrepreneur.
Tu fais des miracles à tous les jours à conjuguer au mieux ces rôles.
Tu es déchirée à prendre des décisions alignées sur ce que tu veux vraiment par culpabilité;
Une culpabilité renforcée à coup de standards de société trop élevés et d’attentes irréalistes de tes proches et tes clients.

Crois-moi; tu fais tellement mieux que tu le penses.
Tu rocks.
Je nous invite à collectivement continuer à alimenter nos réflexions sur l’égalité homme/femme qui n’est pas du tout acquis.

Cessons de nous justifier de notre temps passé à travailler (ou pas) pendant la journée à la maison. On ne demanderais pas à un gars pourquoi le l’avance n’est pas fait et le souper n’est pas commencé si il travaille de la maison.

Cessons de demander aux femmes qui partent en voyage « qui s’occupe des enfants?! ». Réponse ; leur père est tout aussi compétent et n’a pas besoin que tu fasses plein de repas et que tu trouves des plans de répit pour ta semaine à Punta Cana.

Cessons de considérer nos entreprises comme des hobbies et des passions. T’as le droit d’aimer ce que tu fais et que ce soit PROFITABLE.

Cessons de juger les femmes en business; que ce soit sur leur apparence OU sur leur leadership. Soyons fières et encourageons nous.

Je pourrais continuer encore.
Mais ton temps est précieux.
Je veux t’encourager à foncer et être celle que tu veux être.
